Overview
This article describes how to use SynchronEyes software in thin client environments such as a Citrix network environment.
Details
Most thin client environments don’t support IP multicasting. You must configure SynchronEyes software to use only TCP communications as follows:
-
Configure SynchronEyes software on each student’s computer to connect using an IP address or host name. You’re unable to create a connection between a teacher’s computer and students’ computers using a teacher ID or a class list as these connection styles require IP multicasting.
-
Configure SynchronEyes software on the teacher’s computer to use TCP unicast for screen and file broadcasting.
To configure a student’s connection style
-
Browse to the SynchronEyes software folder on the student’s computer.
-
Double-click StudentConfig.exe.
The SynchronEyes Student Configuration dialog box appears.
-
Click Next on each page of the dialog box until the Connection Style page appears.
-
Select Connect to the Same Teacher Every Time.
-
Click Next to open the Automatic Connection page.
-
Select This host name or IP address and type the host name or IP address for the teacher’s computer.
-
Click Next on each page of the dialog box until the Configuration Complete page appears.
-
Click Finish to close the SynchronEyes Student Configuration dialog box.
-
Repeat steps 1 through 8 on each student’s computer.
OR
To configure the other student’s computers with the same options, including the connection style, copy the SynchronEyesClient.ini file from the SynchronEyes software folder on the student’s computer to the same folder on the other students’ computers.
To configure the teacher computer to use TCP Unicast
-
Start SynchronEyes software on the teacher’s computer.
-
Select Options > Preferences.
The Preferences dialog box appears.
-
Clear the Enable for screen broadcast check box.
-
Click OK.
