SMART products to support early education and provide equal opportunities for all learners
Calgary, AB --- September 27, 2011 --- SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMA) (TSX: SMT), a leading provider of collaboration solutions, announces that the Kujawsko-Pomorski School District has installed more than 2,300 SMART Board interactive whiteboards – the largest single installation of SMART products in Poland to date. The installation in the province of Kujawsko-Pomorski in north-central Poland is part of a province-wide project to equip classrooms with interactive technology products. District administrators affirmed that the large-scale installation will help educators provide equal learning opportunities for children from different backgrounds and with diverse learning styles, and that it will support the district’s goal of enabling learners to begin using interactive technology at an early age.
With the support of its local authorized SMART reseller, Talex S.A in Poznan, the district began introducing SMART products in classrooms in November 2010 and continued installations to the end of April 2011. Over 6,500 district teachers have now received training on SMART products, and more than 630 schools throughout the district have been equipped with SMART Board interactive whiteboards – supporting learning for almost 100,000 students. The large-scale purchase of numerous technology products was realized through an open tender. Determining factors under the open-process guidelines included quality of products, appropriate pricing and adequate support.
